Default Exhaust Hangin' :: with pics

Ok so today i go out to find out what this rattling is, and I feel so dumb because when i tried checking things the other day i overlooked the muffler. It looked fine then but today walking out to teh car at the end of teh driveway I see half my muffler is hanging down. Further investigation shows that whatever was holding it up before is gone, its being held up by the connection just in behind of the cat, and the two rubber hangers at the tips. The result is I DO have a leak now and the outlets bent and made a gap and can easily be turned in the muffler.

For now im gonna use wire to hang it back up but i need to find the connections, clamps or whatever it was that held it up before...

pics will be up later

ok its up in the air now...

from what I can tell it looks like im only missing one support can someone confirm how many supports are holding the exhaust up after the cat?

The inlet pipe of the exhaust is the support it looks like im missing as that is the lowest point. both the outlet pipes are supported but since this other one has broken and completely fallen off the car it weakened the connection between the pipes and the muffler and now have about 1/2" or an inch of play moving it in/out :( and I have maybe 1inch long gap at the bottom of the outlet pipe.

anyone have a support on hand? ima check the junkyards by my grandparents house over the next week...

heres the pics:

Took advantage of a wide open garage:

And got her in the air:

It was about 4-5 inches lower than this, i jacked it up when I was tieing it up with wire for now, but you can see it how it was bent

If you can see the gap at the bottom of the pipes at the edge of the muffler, these two pipes can easily be turned and pushed/pulled in and out...

Is this where the missing support goes? It doesn't exactly look like anything was there before but I don't see another place for it...

The tips were bent upward and dug a hole in the gold tips:

looks like im burning oil

You have the two o rings behind the cat, then there should be one rubber bushing at either side of the muffler with a bolt that goes into the muffler.

The 96-99'* had the o rings..then the tail pipes had hangers on them instead of the muffler.

Here'* what the exhaust looks like out of the car. Rubber bands a few inches aft of the cat, and two isolated hangers near the bend in the tail pipes...that'* it. (Nothing attached to the "muffster", as Boosty calls it). I'll have to get you pics of the hangers on the body.

*You WANT this exhaust...in fact, you NEED my whole car (In spite of the crack in mine, I think my rear bumper cover is in better shape!). Too bad you're not closer!*

OK, I'm home - Here’* what the frame hangers for your exhaust look like. This is the right rear of the car, with the bumper cover removed, close up...

Where it’* located (one on each side)…

Yeah man, i do need and want your entire car(or at least the passenger side and rear bumper cover), freaking West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado in the way (no offense to their inhabitants)

So according to this info, all my supports/hangers are intact and holding. Mine supported at the cat, and both hangers at the tail pipes are holding...

so i guess the weld between the pipe and muffler broke...?

Appears that way. Highly unusual for a car that'* not in the rust belt - mine'* so solid I could use it as a lever to raise the car.
