Hello

I'm new to this Forum and i'm looking for a little help.
The UIM on my 97 Binneville has developed a leaky gasket again and I don't plan to paying my mechanic for this again. :(
This has been going on for some time, I hope this hasn't been leaking internally because I don't need to have more problems with acidic antifreeze in my oil !
I ordered a UIM from ATN even before I came across this site and i'm looking all the info. I can get before I tackle this project.
One of the things that I'm not sure of is to the removal of the fuel rail and the fuel injectors :?:
Does any one know of a thread that will help me with this?

Thanks to this site for letting me know that I should change the gaskets on the intake manifold and also the elbow.

There are 4 nuts that hold the fuel rail to the LIM. Two up front, two rear. Bleed the pressure from the shrader valve, then use needle nose pliers to squeeze together the two tabs UNDER the black part of the fuel rail connection. While squeezing, lift the black part up.

Personally..I don't disconnect it.

Remove the 4 nuts.. wiggle til the injectors come free.. and lay it gently on it'* back atop the strut bar.

He'* probably going to want to clean things up a bit. For that reason, I remove it.

I blow the crud out around the injectors with compressed air before removing the rail. I then disconnect the fuel lines, but I have never had to use anything but my fingers. Push down on the black part on top - that takes the tension off the white clip underneath - as you pinch the white tabs in with thumb and finger, and lift the black top off. Easy. I cap the ends of the metal pipes with clean vinyl caps, then cable tie the fuel hoses up onto the strut bar. I usually set the rail, injectors down on a clean piece of newspaper.

Thats how Ive seen it done.
