Does anyone know where I can order the display light for the radio. I pulled the radio and tested the bulb, no good.

There are a number of people on this site that have experienced this problem, and have found the bulb in question. There are still more people yet thtat have also had the problem but don't know how to find the bulb.

I find it very interesting that all the threads I have looked at concerning this end in a similar fashion. "Can you please help me find this bulb", or "Where did you get the bulb?", etc. The response is almost always something like, "You can't get them from parts stores, you can only get them from secret places", or "You have to know where to get them", or "I am cool because I found one and if I tell you then I won't be as cool anymore". Ok so the last one is a little exaggerated but really, come on.

I thought the point to forums like this was to help each other out and take pride in the fact that you own a Bonneville, and such.

Anyway to the main point,

After reading all of these posts and finding myself very frustrated I began to do my own diggin. I went to Radio Shack and they were really no help (no surprise). I stopped by a electronics repair shop(tvs, vcrs, stereos) I have dealt with in the past and asked them if they could find the bulb for me. They pointed me to another similar shop that is the warranty repair shop for Delco, in my area. I talked to the lady that owns that shop and *TADA* she handed me the bulb without me even finishing my question. Apparently it is possible for the 'circuit' to burn out that lights the bulb as well as the bulb itself burning out. So when she replaces the 'circuit' she replaces the bulb with a 'better style' bulb that doesn't get so hot. Anyway long story longer she just throws the old ones out and she keps some on hand just in case.

I got lucky and found the bulb and paid nothing for it!

Hopefully some of you can find repair shops in your area that will be able to get this bulb and you can stop playing games with the children on this board.

My first bulb cost me $'* because of the search I had to do to find them. So I ordered more than one to sell off and recoup some cost. If the gods think it wise, I can post part and phone number of the direct supplier. Like I said, it cost me to get the info. Didn't know if it was wise to publish.

Can you share the info so the rest of us can order one as well?

Finally I was able to fix the problem. I called near by car radios shops-thru the yellow pages, and I was lucky to find a gentleman that said, that the way he fixes that problem at his shop, is by buying two "mini lamps" from Radio Shack, solder both. So I did and my bonnie'* radio display works execelent. Make sure you get ther mini lamps and not LED'* because they won't work with the gradient adjustment.
