Default Bah, what'* that smelll??

Ok, I probably won't be fixing this anytime soon, but I'd like to know what it is, if anything, and what to do about it (right off the bat, I'm guessing it'* my cat, but my dad'* mechanic ASSURED me that it wasn't that). I just drove my Bonnie 200 miles, and it was fine, until I stopped to get gas. I started it up, stuttered a bit, and idled really high and slowly came back down. Also, you can notice the distinct smell of gas. Any thoughts?

Start the engine & let it run a few seconds then turn it off & check for gasoline in the vacuum line going to the regulator. If you find gas in the line you'll want to change it ASAP. All that gas is tough on the Cat.
