The coils (and presumably ICMs) are the same in a wide variety of applications. For example, my dad'* 2001 Regal is showing symptoms that may be related to ignition coils (hard starting during damp weather only). If I can't fix the problem by putting some di-electric grease on the wire connections, I am planning to put the coils from my 93 Bonneville on and see if it works. I checked on the acdelco website, and both cars use the same coils.
Chilton'* calls for measuring the resistance on the coils to test them.

Measuring the resistance works in some cases, and the procedure is in Techinfo for those that want to try.
Be warned that a coil may only fail when hot. That happened to me. Measured fine cold.

As well it might be weak.. not sure if that would show on a resistance test.
I wouldn't suggest the finger licking method to test 30,000 volts though.
