Transmission FRIED!!!
Well... It'* done. I am pretty sure my trans is dead. I made it home the other night in 1000 foot intervals by shutting off the car for 2 minutes, firing it back up and driving in first for a few hundred yards only to find it unable to move again.
I am going to drop the pan tomorrow change the filter and fluid and see if it will give me another two weeks... Nothing to lose at this point in the game!
I thought this may have been occurring from the below zero temps we have been having the past two days so she is parked in the heated garage until tomorrow and I will see if anything has improved. I also hear a high pace whine/grumble when the car is in park and figure it is the trans pump and I am not getting good pressure for the engage or shifts.
My next step will be the search for a transmission and the process of swapping it out on my own. Fun fun fun... God I love this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like it'* completely dead. But, if you THINK there might be a LITTLE life left in it, throw some seafoam trans tune in that. It'* cured many things that I would have junked a transmission over.
Never used it on a GM transmission, but I'd imagine if it works in a Chrysler, it'll work in anything.

The high pitched sound you mentioned reminds me of a friend'* dead 2001 Intrepid R/T'* transmission, only yours does it just in park. See if you can pick up a Trans Tune bottle, and then let us know if that helps the car at least a little bit.
