Car wont start! Please help
Im positive its not the battery/cables. When u try to turn the car on, all it does is click. Could it be the stareter? And if it is the starter do u have to use spacers at all? thanks

Did you change the starter, or did this just start happening?
Check the cables at the starter for corrosion, and check the battery negative cable where at both ends. Remove them and clean them.
What year and model? Please put that info in your signature.

I answered that in your other post......I'll delete that one and answer here. If you had no shims before, don't use any. If you had shims on the old starter, put them in in the same manner.
If in doubt, remove the starter, but leave it connected. Crank the car. Still get nothing but a click? It'* not the shims (you may need to run a ground wire from the body of the starter to the frame to make this work).

And another thing, When i took off the starter it looked like the gears were all torn up and didnt really look right and it never seemed like it fully engaged into the flywheel.

The gears on the old starter were chewed up? Or the flywheel? In that case, you may want to start adding shims until it engages right. But try the 'removed' test first. And make sure your battery has a full charge. Make sure it kicks out and spins.

If you're hearing precisely one *click* followed by dead silence, it sounds like your solenoid is engaging but the starter is doing nothing.
If you're hearing a series of rapid-fire clicks, it may be just a weak battery: the starter is turning, but doesn't have enough power to actually engage the flywheel, and instead you're just hearing the pinion slipping its teeth on the edge instead.
So, which is it?
