Default AC Problems

My AC pulley makes a horrible grinding noise when the AC is off. When the AC is on, it does not. With the help of willwren and others, they have thought it to be the AC clutch. So this leads me to a couple new questions -

1. Is this a problem with the "AC clutch bearing" ? or the whole thing?

2. IF it is just the bearings, i know there is a special tool to use to remove them, is this a hard job to get done?

Just looking for the most economical way to take care of this bc I have never encountered this problem before. Being a college student doesn't pay the bills. Ha.

Thank you!

just buy a new clutch its hard to pull apart and then you have to order the parts.

I would think it is easier to follow this in only one thread.

The original.

here'* the up and down side. It'* probably the clutch only. However you need to vacuum the freon out and remove the compressor to change the clutch. With the time and effort, is a whole new unit better or not?
