Install some springs.

Make up some cables that you can pull and anchor the trunk lever to stay open once you've unlocked it.

Add some weights to the lever.

If all else fails, remove the bricks from the truck lid.

A spring may have gotten weak, broken, or unhooked. If your springs look connected and unbroken, consider changing them for a set on a car with a spoiler from a junkyard.

[edit: Geez, thanks for contributing to my continuing education, Boosty - I didn't realize the spring bars could be adjusted! Good to know.]

Game.. In the trunk there are two rods that control the tension and keep the trunk open and pop it.

When you look in by the hinges, you should see two rods (one on each side) sticking down. You can adjust them if careful. Try adjusting one side by one space then if necessary adjust the other side as well.

Is it possible to abjust them so the trunk opens all the way by itself when you hit the release button like on some newer cars?

Read the replies above again. Adjusting them has been mentioned twice.

To add and answer that last question a little better. Yes.. you can adjust it so that the lid nearly takes flight. I'd suggest against this, after a while.. you start to wonder what support structure you are damaging when this heavy lid slams up.

Alright, I like trunks that do that, but since you guys suggest against it, I wont. I would guess that cars that come from the factory that have the trunk lid go all the way up are accounted for those problems.
