James, when you get the car fixed you'll look back at this and laugh. Just a little bump in the road.

Earlyer I was told to put the voltage meter on the ground and the P terminal..... Does that mean the battery ground or just a ground ( any metal ).?

Just about any metal wil be a ground. To test, apply red lead of volt meter to + post of battery and poke around metal the metal objects. If they are painted, you may have to poke at it for a min to get a good connection. Make sure that the multimeter is set to the "20 v" dc option.

Ok.. I checked the pink wire at the end of the ICM connection and there was no power to it when the ignition was at the run position. Im going to recheck the coils just because Im there. But whew. I think I feel good about that? Should I? So now on to the VAT and the ignotion switch? Gearheads?

Well what your doing is elminating possibilites. Now it look like the (I think) the ICM?? I believe thats what it'* called. The pink wire is supposed to have a ~12-13 volts.

Make sure you are making a connection on that pink wire!! How did you test it?

I am not trying to poke fun at you, but we want to malke sure that you fully eliminate the possibility.

James - It sounds like you're making some progress. Did you ever check all the fuses?

Its ok.. I took the volt meter and set it to 20 and checked between the ground and where the pink wire attached and got no reading. This was with the enging on run. Like Tech Ted said to do..

That is the latest...

Ted, If he maunally applied +12 v to the pink wire, would that be a good idea?? I am thinking of a possible over-ride.

That might be something to consider but I wouldn't try it without a fuse on the jumper. We need to check fuses & rule out Vats. Is that wire pink or pink/black on the 97'*. Do you know if there a separate fuse for the the icm or if it shares with the ecm.
