What would happen if I connected the left rear brake lines without the proportioning valve? It broke and my dad'* dumba$* thinking ruined it.

Good question. Rears would lock up and the fronts woudn't get enough? Maybe the other way around? I don't know which way the valve works.

My Forester is like totaled and I apparently don't have rental car coverage. In the meantime I really wanted to fix this '93 Lesabre of a friends thats sitting out here so I'd have something to drive

are you refering to the check valve near the rear driver side door? cuz im almost 100% sure that the proportioning valve is part of the master cylinder.

Yes, I'm talking about the two cylinder things there underneath by the driver'* side rear door. I searched and figure they are proportioning valves...why would there be a check valve though?

I think you are right. I have not seen a seperate proportioning valve on a Bonneville.

this is a lesabre tho right? i know same thing. but on my 92 C bodies, the p.v is in the m.*.

so if the check valve was bypassed, there would be no difference at all, untill a leak occured.

What good does this check valve do? I'm tempted to not put it back if it really isn't a proportioning valve.

it only lets fluid, and air go in one direction. like a diode if that helps.

i thought of skippin mine one time it was leaking. i just figured they put it on for a reason, so i got a JY one.

im not really sure of the purpose to be perfectly honest.
