A/C question
i have a 92 se it has the auto climate controls and i went to use the air for the first time i have owned the car for 4 months
the economy light is on and in the owners manual it says the ac wont work with this on but i cant get it to tun off and the compressor wont kick in, i can jump the wires on the compressor and it will kick on and blow cold, it shows no power to the commpressor i have checked fuses and all seem to be ok. anyone know what might be rwrong? the car only has 26,000 miles

Ray, welcome to the club. You are very lucky you have a 92. You'll find an article in Techinfo on retrieving diagnostic codes from your climate control panel (ATC for auto temp control), and how to reset/clear faults. About every six months, mine faults, blinking the temp at startup (that'* your clue there'* a prob), and it always comes up with the same code. Long-term freon loss. It'* bogus. AC works fine. I simply reset it, and go for another 6 months.
While in some fault states, your ATC will NOT work in Auto mode. Try this, and let us know what happens.

Yes, use the techinfo procedure and tell us what code you get. Then we'll proceed from there.

I get that same code every 6 months. 3 times since I've had the car. No actual freon leak whatsoever. I think it'* a gremlin, or maybe some female genes in the ATC module.
As a matter of coincedence.....yesterday was the third time. While I was testing the ram air setup

What it'* telling you with a Long-Term Loss fault, in essence, is that there isn't a whole lot wrong, but that it'* time for a recharge. It'* not a bogus error, just one that doesn't require a system repair to correct.

1992 SSE A/C
My 1992 SSE'* a/c isn't working properly. The air conditioning is just blowing the outside temp. I have the flashing two digits in the climate control display. The system was checked for leaks and was fully recharged today. However the compressor won't engage. The relay was replaced and had no effect. The compressor engages fine when the relay was jumped. Even with the new charge the air temp is about 50 and the metal lines didn't get really cold. The fuses look fine.
The diagostic trouble code is "66"(low freon) and that'* after the recharge. I attempted to clear the trouble code by going to 03, then 01, then multiple off'*. It doesn't want to clear.
Anybody out there have any ideas for some next steps?
