That Don't Look Right?!?!
Every time I turned the sttering wheel, I kept hearing a clunking sound and could never figure out what it was until today. There are 4 bolts that hold the p/* steering gearbox in place, 2 main bolts that are righ under the steering gear and 2 on the passenger side for extra support. The 2 bolts on the drivers side broke and stripped. While I was standing under the car, facing forward, I grabbed the drivers side tire, pullde on it and was able to make the gearbox pick up off the frame about 1.5". The 2 nuts that were welded on the underside of the frame had a bolt broken out of it, but still attached and the other was broken off theframe with the bolt strripped in it, but still holding on. I used an air impact hammer and chisel to pop the one nut that was still attached to the frame and and removed the other stripped bolt and nut with all new hardware. Phew.
