A few issues needing to be taken care of
My 97 Bonne (3800 series II) has had a few issues that have started up.. it has 185K on it so I'm sure its well over due but I'd like to fix them and keep this thing until it doesn't want to run anymore.
My first problem is the care likes to start shaking at around 65-70. The car has been aligned and the wheels rotated and balanced, so what else could this be?
Secondly, when the car is stopped, like at a U-turn we'll say, and you have to cut hard to the left or right when I accelerate out of the turn it makes a weird grinding type noise and shakes.. but it doesn't do it all the time, and the car steers pretty normal otherwise. I think its power steering related but what should I check?
Thanks for the help, I'm new to the forum so I hate asking question right off the bat but I'm on the Cherokee forum and the Cummins diesel forum, and I've learned tons from them about my other trucks so I figured this would be the best way.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

My first thought is that some belt in a tire is deteriorating or moved.
I do not think the tire shop spins the tire fast enough (65mph) to notice the shake when its on the balancer and if the tire is not taken off of the rim of course then you cannot see inside tire.
And sometimes thats where the deterioration will show up.
And there are these possibilities:
Warped brake rotors. The rotor hits the caliper every tire rotation causing a small bump in the steering wheel each time.
Shifted belt in tire or other defect in tire including irregular wear (tire rotation under these conditions will on move the vibration felt), loose lug nuts, worn inner tie rod end bushings, loose mounted or internal play in the rack and pinion steering gear.
CV joint could cause this.
Worn struts which had can cause a tire to wear unevenly (flattening one side of the tire). That causes shimmy at higher speeds.
These are not all my ideas but gives you some things to consider.

Wow...Welcome... sorry we didn't see this sooner.....
This situation sounds like a wheel bearing or CV issue. When you pin the wheels all the way left and right.. do you get any clicking sounds or only grinding?

It really doesn't do either when its cut all the way...and its only when you accelerate some what hard out of a tight turn does it act up at all.
I was thinking CVs as well because I know the symptoms are some what like the ones I had with shot front wheel u-joints in my Jeep, I just wanted to be sure
