Default Do I have an ELC problem?

After reading in this thread ( http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...139&highlight= ) I saw a comment that the ELC will run after key on for a short time to pressurize the struts. Mine used to do this, but after I got new rear ELC struts, it does not. I'm pretty sure the ELC still works... it'll come on when I've got three people in the back going to lunch. Paranoia?

yes the typical pressurazation time is 3-5 seconds.....maybe because of the new struts you dont have a leakdown....but the pump still should kick on....i believe you have to wait 37-45sec (the numbers may not be 100% accurate) but its close to that time frame...

this is controlled by the elc switch, easy to test. get another switch, plug it in (don't have to mount) then put key to run. should work now. mount new switch.

Not positive if it'* the same for you vintage though. This is how the 96+ are supposed to work.

also, this function is overridded by the level switch. It will either go to immediate fill, purge, or the nominal pressurization

On the 96+ the FSM says that upon igintion on..the timer delay starts, after 27-35 seconds the system will run for 3-5 seconds to "repressurize".

I notice that my system will purge for a millisecond before repressurizing.

There is a pressure limiting valve or switch as well... I may be close to max pressure.

John, keep in mind that unlike the 95-99 cars, the 92-94 will maintain ride height with the ignition off.

So, why did mine like to run after key-on before? If it was leaking, which it was, wouldn't it have likly run before I even got in the car?

you are correct. yours will run whenever it needs to. so in reality, yours should alway "be up", unless it is a really huge leak.
