Cut the wires and put in an override switch. I used to live in Canada and played hide and seek with a cop who could turn off his lights, awesome fun. I plan on having total control of every light and horn in my car.

Only way I knwo of to turn the headlights off is to throw the car in park, and turn the **** on the twilight sentinal all the way to the right.

But Greg is right, if you live in Canada, there is a reason for the daytime lights, and they have cut down accidents a great deal.

Twilight sentinel is standard on these cars. It helps you regulate how long the lights stay on after the car is shut off

Wouldn't the easiest solution to not care about it? It doesnt affect you. But if you really care, usually hitting it with a hammer will solve all your problems. Good luck.

Be very careful where you put that switch because if put in the wrong way or place it will just make you mad. Also when slicing wires make sure you leave room for change or clean repairs. My reason for not liking the daytime running lights is the same reason I can see the CHP coming a mile away. The CHP usually have their daytime lights on. LOL the reason they have to be on in Canada is the reason I don’t want them. I don’t want to be seen unless I want to be seen. LOL I am a Canadian citizen so I’m not Canada, but I came from an oppressive driving environment on the west coast and I guess I am releasing some of that frustration. The nice thing about the west coast was I could buy my way out of all my tickets, not directly with each cop but the system let me pay down my points. At one time I had 16 points and still legally could drive. I tended to ignore the radar vans they parked on the side of the highway. In California 3 points and I’m caned, so I don’t like being forced to have daytime lights. Anyone have a radar detector that detects those dam radar planes?

I am aware they don’t use radar but I wonder if there is a specific signature that could be detected? LOL ya I know only in the movies. I have a few friends who are CHP and they have explained the process. I also know when the shift change is for certain areas. LOL helps a little.

It seems that ZZPerformance is offering a little switch to turn off the DRL'* with a switch at will. It'* $15 and you can find it at http://www.zzperformance.com. If someone has the electrical manual for a newer Bonneville you can find out what switch the DRL'* are running on, add an extra switch in the middle, and be able to turn it off and on at will. All it is is simple electronics. Or most likely to make it easier just buy ZZP'* switch since its $15 dollars and wont break the bank.

Do the DRLs have their own dedicated fuse? If so you can either simply pull the fuse or splice a switch into the wires running into the back on the fusebox.

I don't have DRLs on my 92, but I have a brake light kill switch setup the same way. It comes in handy when I want to slow down without attracting undue attention (such as when I just passed a cop )

probably a stupid question, but what lights are on when the drl'* are on? all lights, or just parking lights?

Basically DRL'* are the headlights on at low power so people can see you in the day and such. They do help prevent more accidents but we live in America.... eh.
