Hmm, now I'm at a loss. Give it awhile and someone else may come in and have some ideas.

i dont understand why gm would discontinue ANY part on a 96, but no make matters worse there are no parts jobbers that can get the cv shaft with a 2.93 gear ratio, they can ONLY get them with 2.84 and 3.06 ratios

Not making the axle anymore does not mean you can't buy it new. www.rockauto.com is where you want to look. Go threw the menu, choose your make, then year, then model. Find the axle you need and you should be set.

Not sure how the ratio effects the axle. It'* just a splined shaft. All the ratio comes from the transfer gears and the diff.

That'* even more interesting, because AdvanceAuto never asked what ratio I had. Autozone gave a listing of available shafts. Rockauto only have a few in the list. But never specified which ones.

ok im not sure why it makes a difference but i called a 3 gm dealers and all of them told me that i have to use the one with a 2.93 ratio, it may have something to do with the length of it or maybe the number of splines, not really sure but it what they all said. if some know different please let me know
