automatic load leveling suspension problem 1992 sse
I have a 1992 sse and the load leveling doesn't work anymore. what fuse is it the air compressor in trunk still works but if I load the car down it wont level it self doesn't even try. where are the sensors for this or could it be the struts are shot they have 211,000 miles on them. any help would be great thanks

The sensor arm for the ELC is located on the rear axle assembly, if you jack up the car, on rear wheel assembly you'll notice a small control arm...that is the sensor. When the car is weighted down the sensor arm drops and intializes the compressor. On my car the electrical junction box or whatever is on the underside of the car beside the compressor. Is that the same on Bonnies?
Anyhow, check all the wires and all of the male and female connectors into the junction box.
Are your rear air shocks filled with air?
If your compressor still works (based on the hardware in the trunk..then its the sensor...on my Aurora, its gonna cost me $500 clams CDN for the part and installation

Here'* another option for you.....
Attached is a revised service proceedure for electronically controlled struts without the need to install a control module. Our previous issue to you on February 25/00, bulletin GMP00-016, had indicated the need for a control module when replacing an electronic strut with a standard (non-electronic) strut package. Effective immediately, when replacing electronic struts with a standard strut package, suppresion of the ride control dashboard light will no longer require the replacement of the vehicle'* control module. Please refer to the attached Corporate Service Bulletin, Number 00-03-11-001 for proceedures.
Pontiac Bonneville 1994-1999 Note: Available as Electronic or Standard Options.
Electronic Struts: Current Service Number > 22064529 = Standard Replacement: Strut Service Number > 22189459

Condition:Some owners may elect to have passive struts installed in their vehicles due to repair cost savings and/or parts availablility. Installation of passive struts will result in the illumination of a service indicator. If desired by the customer, the service indicator may be disabled using the appropiate service proceedure listed below.
Correction:The wiring harness going to each strut and or shock assembly should be cut and taped back to clean-up the appearance both under the hood and under the vehicle. In addition, each specific vehicle will require a modification as outlined below.
1994-1999 Pontiac Bonneville with Computer Command Ride (CCR)
The feedback strut/shock assemblies are still available for these vehicles. However, if the customer desires to reduce the repair expense, the following steps may be taken to allow installation of non-feedback assemblies and the disabling of the malfunction indicator lamps.
This is a stand alone system. Remove the CCR module, which is located under the carpeting beneath the driver'* seat.

That'* good info, Rat.
FYI the CCR option was not available until 1994, so this won't apply to his car, however, the concept is the same. You can replace the air struts with normal struts that do not utilize the air compressor.
Sounds like the sensor arm may be broken or the sensor may be bad under the car.
