Well ive decied it do it my self to save 170 bucks in labor. So i know i have to put the car up on stands, take the passenger front tire off, and the splash guard but after that is it hard to access the bolts and remove the lines and take the pump out or is it fairly straight forward? After that do i have to make sure no air gets in the lines for the power steering or is that not an issue?

Matt, it'* fairly straightforward, but I'd really suggest the following:

1. Buy Chilton'* #28200 manual.
2. Buy a torque wrench (even a cheap one)
3. Don't worry about air, but top off the fluid before and after starting the car.

The money you save by doing this will MORE than pay for the manual and wrench. You really need both.

4. Plan on the possibility of the need to transfer the pulley from the old pump to the new (piece of cake).

heh I had a very intimate dealing with the power steering pump on my '93 ssei. The bolts are easy to get out really, just line the holes on the pulley up with the bolts, there only two of them so that is fairly straight forward. The difficult part for me was getting the damn thing out of there! Its kind of a pain to find the right combination of angles to get the thing out but trust me, it'll come out. It won't seem like it but just keep trying to rotate it and pull down until you find the right way, even push it back towards the rear of the engine as far as it'll go and rotate some more. I'm pathetic so it took me like 20-30min the first time, and that was after it was unbolted! The manual explains how to bleed the system but I let mine sit dry for like 6months and all I did was hook it up, start the engine, and kept feeding it fluid. Turn the wheel and feed it more. Wait like 5min and feed it more. It'll take more than you think but after all that it turned fine, no hard spots or sloppy steering. Anyway just be patient and it'll come out without too much trouble. Getting it IN is a whooollle 'nother story. But its possible so good luck!
