Clunking sound at front end
my car has this knocking clunking sound in my front left wheel well. When reading my repair manual i had come to the conclusion that it is my CV Joint. However when i jacked up my car the boots were fine not cracked no leaking nothing. So i turn my key to break loose the steering column to be able to turn the the wheel and when i turn the wheel in and out i get this noise the clunking knocking kind of grinding noise like skipping or sliding out of place noise. So now i am wondering if it is my outer tie rod end it has some play to it when i grab the rotor and the edge of the tie rod i can move it in and out a good amount. Any suggestions would be helpful. i can't usually mimic this noise when driving until anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes into driving.

sounds like a strut bearing. With the front end in the air, weight off wheels, put key to run and grab wheel (tire) and turn by hand. Look up at the top of strut and get some lub spray up there.
