Exclamation 98 SSEi Transmission Problem? Shudder??

After a week or two of driving my new 98 SSEi, I started to notice a problem. When Accelerate from 50-60 mph, usually when I'm on the on ramp, my car starts to shudder. Like a jerk back and forth.

I've read up a little on this and have reason to believe it may be the 'torque converter circuit'. I was wondering, has this happened to anyone else? If so, how do you fix it? Is it as simple as changing spark plugs and wires? Or is it a more complicated mechanical solution?

Have the car scanned. Many trans codes wont trip a light. Could be your torque converter is not unlocking. But lets see what codes you have first.

If it shudders on acceleration, I would doubt that it is the TCC. I do need more info. TCC will not apply while you are accelerating and a TCC will only shudder on apply.

Yea my SSEi does that too. Just about 2llb boost it will act up. If you go faster (more boost)and kick the supercharger in more you don't have the problem. I've been fighting this since I bought mine just before joining here.

sounds like it could be your drive shafts as the CV joints sart to sieze.does it hobble a bit when you turn one way or the other at low speed?if not you are into the same boat I was in at christmas eve and my tranny did that and I had to replace the trannycause to rebuild it was around 2000.00as my 94 SSEi has the electronic shift control and you have to tear the whole tranny apart in order to rewire the brain back into the tranny.Iwould personally have a mechanic that you can trust check your CV loints first for you though.hope I could help you

I have not noticed a 'hobble' while turning at low speeds. I will get it scanned and see what it says. It has happened while cruising at around 55 mph too... but i've noticed it mostly while I'm just get off the on ramp onto the high way.

how many miles does it have? if its getting up there and you still have the original wires, and plugs you may want to do them any way. it sounds like what mine does when it wants wires and plugs but mines not SC.

thats about when i have to do it to all my cars, if your wires have the cyl numbers they are likely original. if its a lighter vibration that maybe it, i was thinking if it was a heavier vibration it maybe engine mounts, you could have someone shift it back and forth and watch the engine, alot of people have trouble with those, search here for hockey puck mod.

It is definitely NOT a light vibration lol. It'* a very noticeable jerking back and forth. I will search that mod...

I just returned from having it scanned at AutoZone, but no codes came up... ? I have heard that changing the sparks and wires can fix this problem, so I will give that a shot too.
