A/C Evaporator Core Removal and New Installation
I'm doing this. I worked on it from 6:30 to 10 PM last night and I only have one lower fastener to remove before the HVAC assembly cover comes off before I can take my Polish hands and rip the ol' leaky Evap Core out and start installing the new one I bought last week. By the way, there are a lot of parts to remove and/or swing out of the way to get to it as well as cutting the insulator cover from the HVAC assembly.
Anyway, I've got a question: When I cut the cover off and removed it, it'* in poor shape. there are a few tears in it, especially on the lower side. There is actually a lower piece of it missing. The integrity of the part is still there to a certain degree.
However, I'm assuming that it is normally put back on, correct? With the cuts that I had to make to remove it? Would I buy a couple of clips to fit on those flanges that run down the left side of it to pinch it together? Using something like RTV to seal the cuts up?
Should I buy a new cover? Where? Dealer? Aftermarket?
I need recommendations, as I'll be finishing up the removal tonight and will attempt to start reassembling everything.
I want to thank acg_ssei for posting this thread a while back. It'* helped me immensely, especially the order of parts removal.

Thanks ahead of time for any help you can offer.

There are a few goopy butly rubber like things that you should use to reseal it.
Not sure what you'd call them..but they stay semi goopish forever.
