Default Cooling Fan Problem

I have a 92 Bonneville SE 3.8L V6 and for the past 2 days i've been having problems with overheating. Today I changed the thermostat, drained and filled the radiator, and checked all the hoses. None of that helped, but then I realized that the cooling fans aren't coming on. I plan on checking all the wiring and relays, but I wondered if anybody has any suggestions before I tear into it. Thanks.

maybe you should check the fuse? i dont know which one it is, but i experienced the same thing, and it turned out to be a burned out fuse.

I allready checked the fuse it looks fine. I replaced it with no luck. Unless there is another fuse besides the one in the main fuse block under the drivers side dash.

I had the same problem with the same car. its actually the relays on the fan assembly I just bypassed them. First you should take it out and check it to see if it is the fan or not. its pretty easy. saves like 40 bucks

Check to see that the fans still work by applying 12V, then go to the relays for a check.

Ok I removed the fans and connected 12v to them. They both run fine. I checked the fuses and they are fine. Also I tried turning the air conditioning on but they still do not come on. I'm running out of ideas. Any help? Thanks.

You need to have high pressure on the A/C to turn on the fans. But it uses the relays also. Looking at the windshield/firewall, the high speed relay is No. 7 and the low speed relay is No. 8. They are the two furthest on the right.

Try switching them with the horn relay, which is in position No. 2 (on your left)

Does your car have a temp gauge and does it work correctly?

Ok I tried switching the relays with the horn relay. The horn still functions with both of the fan relays but the fans don't respond to the horn relay. Also my a/c works but doesn't blow cold air. So in a sense it doesn't work. But would it still make the fans turn on? What else could be wrong that my fans won't spin?

Hey guys, guess what. I just replaced the fans, relays, and fuses. And now....It works. Weird... I don't know what was worng. I guess there was a bad connection, and by messing with it, it somehow fixed itself. Thanks anyway!
