Cleaning the TB
How does one clean the Throttle body? I have a slightly rough idle, which was mostly fixed with some injector cleaner, but is still present. I have one to practice on if need be.

Get a new gasket first. Then take your TB off. Remove the MAF sensor for cleaning seperately (qtip and alcohol....not beer). Remove the IAC. You can leave the TPS if you wish, but it'* a damn good time to do the TPS enhancement.
now get some intake (sensor-safe) cleaner. Soak the living snot out of the TB and IAC. Scrub with a brass brush. Spray, rinse, and dry. Put it all back. Pay close attention to the IAC passage in the TB.

When I do mine, I remove all the sensors and just soak the SOB in a coffee can filed with gasoline. That really loosens everything up. Then, do some light scrubbing with a soft wire brush.

I let it soak for about an hour.
Bill..how does it affect the butterfly valve? The valve is spring loaded, made of spring steel. An hour in gasoline shouldn't negatively affect it. :?

TB cleaner contains a lubricant for the TB where it moves. W/o the lubricant you may notice stickiness or you may not. I'm not saying gas harms it, it'* just not my first choice. And for a guy that works in a parts store...it probably shouldn't be either. Gas is more expensive than TB cleaner...lol
