OK, guys, this was odd. I came back from work just now and decided to pop out the hood to do some regular checkup. About 1 minute afer I opened the hood, a small orange spring came out between the driver side headlight and the raditor! It lasted for about 5 second and stopped. From the color, it'* coolant (I still use dexcool)! However, it doesn't make sense eithe. That liquid was at best slightly warmer than ambient temperature. But at the time the car was hot after 65 miles @ 70 mph @ 85F outside. The coolant temperature was at about 190F for almost 1 hour and the hose between engine and radiator was barely touchable at the time. The car didn't lose too much coolant. It does lose some slowly because the d*mned coolant bypass elbow that I haven't found time to deal with. So what do you think? Thank you very much!

Sounds like you may have a hole in the hose that runs between the radiator cap and the expansion tank. Or a hole in the radiator or radiator hose that only opens enough to release some coolant when the pressure builds. As the coolant is released, the pressure drops and the leak stops. This would be a good thing to fix.

Speaking of fixing, Dex and air don't play well. When you leak coolant, air enters the system. Exposure to air will help Dex to destroy your LIM gaskets even more quickly than it otherwise would. Fix the coolant elbow when you can still dictate the time and place, and while you are at it, change out the Dex for "mixes with any type-color" coolant.

Thanks, Bill. What made me confused was the temperature of the leaked fluid though. For sure the coolant in the car was much much hotter than the leaked liquid. Any way to explain that? Just for the record, the leaking side was between the driver side headlight and radiator (while the radiator cap and the expansion tank both locate in the passenger side).

Well, normally I know my right from my left.... Hmmmm, how about orange colored windshield washer fluid? That is on the driver'* side (I think ).

Yes, washer fluid is on driver side but it'* roughly green in color now. Will keep a close eye on it. Thanks. Please chime in if anybody has any idea.

In for a penny - in for a pound. How about water trapped against steel that has picked up enough oxide to turn orange? When you opened the hood, you dislodged something that held the water, releasing some or all of it in a little, stream, not very warm to the touch.
