Default Traction Control Button/Light

Trying to trace down an issue with my traction control. The light on my console doesn't come on. I've replaced the button with a known good one and the light still doesn't work. The "Traction" light on my dashboard is not lit either. I'm sure the traction control still works because during the winter I could hear it working when I started oout on the ice. My question is: does anyone have a wiring diagram for the traction system and could a resistor or electical module be bad? My guess is that when you press the button it sends a signal to some device that sets the dashboard light and then tells the traction control unit to stop working?

Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem with my 93 SSEi...... If the bulb in the traction off spot in the cluster is burnt out neither one will light up.... As soon as I replaced the bulb in the dash they both worked fine...........Hope this helps.. Let me know if it works.

Well, I finally got around to changing out the traction off indicator light in my dashboard and all is working again. Man, talk about having to tear the whole cluster apart to get to it.

Thanks for the help!

I always thought mine was working even when the light wasn't on. I know I heard and felt my wheels pulsate during the winter. But the way the circuit is designed who knows. I guess to test it you would need to get one of the front wheels to spin faster then the other and see if the module kicks in?

You'll know when your traction control kicks in. There is a pulsating sound that comes from the front wheels. It'* not the same as when the ABS kicks in. That'* a distinct pulsating feeling in the brake pedal.
