whining
so every since i've had my car there'* always been a whine that its had that you can hear when its idling, or at low speeds....i've always said is the supercharger {since the whine increases with the engine speed}, but my dad believes it could be something with the power steering. Today, however, I didn't hear the whine while i was waiting at the drive thru....
so is it the supercharger whining or the power steering? and since i didn't hear the whine today, is that a good or bad thing?

Superchargers don't whine at idle or low rpm'*. Check the rear bearing of your alternator, and each idler pulley on both belt paths. Try spraying some WD-40 on each of them until the sound goes away.

Before my Idler Pulley went south, it made kind of a whirring whiney sound.
Basically, you'll need to get, or make, some sort of stethescope type thingy and check every pulley in there...

Mine did it REALLY bad when the water pump was going bad.
You should see a common theme here. It has something to do with something running on the belt.
