Default Compass zones

I looked in techinfo to try to calibrate my compass in my '92 SSEi but was because I didn't know what zone I was in. I go to school near Detroit, MI.

doesn't it auto-detect the zone? I don't ever remember having to input the zone in my 95, it just automatically went to zone 6, even though I live on the line of 6/7

I'm guessing the dealer or previous owner set it... and it shouldn't change with just a re-calibration. you shouldn't need to mess with it unless you move or bought the car somewhere else.

the OP has a 92 so he does not have the auto calibration. it must be done manually

that i dont know for sure. I do know that the 92 and the 93 had the manual setting of the zones, i am unsure on the 94...the easy way to tell is if there is only one button above the compass then it has the auto calibration

Mine was fine until my husband decided we needed to reset it. now I can't clear it. He should have just left it alone.
