Question Depth of rear main seal??

Am currently getting a tranny re-build on my 93 ssei. While the tranny is out of the car thought it prudent to change the rear main seal. It had a small leak, and the seal itself was slightly askew in the bore.
My question is; is there any reason I cant install the seal compleatly bottomed out to the back of the bore?
