Default 96 Bonneville temp. control panel

Last night I took the battery cables off of the battery so that I could clean them up,,,,,, put them back on,,,,, Tightened them back up, and this morning and 2 other times today I noticed that the digital display on the heater controls was blinking. I was blinking on both the outside temperature and the heat temperature for how warm or cold you want it inside the car..... What does this mean??????????
Thank Bonneville guys..... YOU HAVE BEEN AWESOME IN ALL OF MY QUESTIONS.....

Sounds like you have a fault in the system. could be a bad temp sensor. You may have to have the system scanned with a tech2. The HVAC system is not my area, sorry.

I had something similar happen once, turned out I blew one of the hvac fuses. when the auto climate display worked, it blinked. otherwise it would stay off.

Do you have full heat control right now? Are you able to go from full hot to full cold?

As Dan had mentioned a blinking display means your system has a fault. Most times this means your air mix actuator has a broken gear.

Well, what I do know is, that sometimes, I get heat on the driver side, and sometimes not.....
When the heat is always good on the passenger side, I feel on the driver side, and it is cold.....
Other times I feel it and it is just as warm as the passenger side.
Is there a acuator on the drivers side as well????
And what is the name of the computer that can check the heating system ?????
Thanks guys

There is only one actuator on this car. Also I was doing some more looking into this a 96 might as well have to use the Tech1 depending on the build date. The test is turn your temp to full cold and observe the command position is at 100percent if it is not at 100 then the programmer is bad, if it does display 100 then turn control to full hot on observe command position should be at 0 if not then replace programmer. If all of that is good then compare actual position to command position and if it outside of 5 percent then there is broken air mix valve/actuator or linkage.

ok,,,,, I checked in on the air mix acuator through the small hole behind the glove box and found that it is moving back and forth freely.....
I also noticed that with the key on heat off and car not running that the air mix acuator moved from its present spot, back toward the passenger side of the car..... and stopped.
Do I possibly need to let it move back, disconnect the battery and let everything reset itself....
Because, the blinking of the control panel didnt start untill I unhooked the battery cables to clean them.....
Really confused......

Couple things:

I checked in on the air mix acuator through the small hole behind the glove box and found that it is moving back and forth freely
Are you watching the air mix arm go back and forth with your moving the temp bottons up and down...or...are you physically moving the arm yourself?

I also noticed that with the key on heat off and car not running that the air mix acuator moved from its present spot, back toward the passenger side of the car..... and stopped.
Ok this kind of answered my above question but need to verify a bit.

What you saw here is the ECC system properly 'parking' the air mix actuator in it'* off position.

Do I possibly need to let it move back, disconnect the battery and let everything reset itself....
.
Yes. give it 45 minutes if you have the time.

Because, the blinking of the control panel didnt start untill I unhooked the battery cables to clean them....
It'* possible that when you disconnected the cables the system was not 'parked' in the correct spot. Then when you reconnected the cables the system did not see the correct parking spot and threw a fault code and gave you the visual...blinking display

Can you tell me which way the "parked" spot is......
And if so, All I need to do is wait until it goes the way that is parked, unhook the battery, and try that?
Thanks for your help Toddster.
