My check engine light is on, and has been on since I bought the car, it ussually runs fine, but every once in a while it lacks in power, I read the owners manual and it sounds like that light means that there is something wrong with the emmisions rather than the engine, my thought is the O2 sensor, any Ideas?

your best bet is to you have it scanned. I had my system scanned about a month ago. All mechanics have a scanner, but hopefully you can find a buddy around here or in clubgp.com that has one who is willing to help you out. It maybe something simple... but you never know.

I found out that sometimes if you don't tighten the gas cap enough it will cause the check engine light to come on, try tightening it and disconnect the battery for a couple hours to erase the codes, if it comes up again, then you know it is something else.
