Sputters/Chugging after 80KMH
Thought I would throw this one out for someone to solve, hopefully that is LOL. My first experiences here asking for advice and so on have been very good, alot of knowledgeable people.
The problem at hand here......Car starts up fine, no stalling etc. but is idling rough, cruise along up to 80KMH and after that the car chugs quite heavily. I let off of the gas and press again it disappears, but comes back shortly after.
It'* like the motor is shaking to better explain it , but it'* not stalling or wanting too if this makes any sense LOL. :?
Your help in this will be appreciated,
FatPat3

I had the same problem and what I did to solve mine was change the spark plug wires and the problem went away.
You might also check the coil packs.

big_boss thanks for the input , I've changed the plugs and wires a month ago so there new but the coils I've yet to check out.
I own a 94' and would like to know is there a way to check them myself or do I have to take them in to the shop, would like not to take them in though LOL.
Thanks again,
FatPat3

How did the plugs look when you changed them? Were they all the same or was there one or two that were different.
The procedure for testing coils, compliments of Willren:
You'll have to remove the coils from the car to test them.
Check resistance between the primary coils. It should be between 0.5 and 0.9 ohms. The secondaries should be between 5k and 8k.
Here'* the pinout for secondaries......on the top (plug wire terminals) read 1-4, 5-2, and 3-6. Easy?
Primaries can be read from underneath.
Note: Test when cold and then test when hot.
Have you had your car tested for codes?

Bonnie Canuck hello there......As far as I can remember the old plugs looked a little oily but not major, dirty ofcourse and they all looked equal.
Also thanks a bunch for the coil testing procedure, I'm going to do this ASAP. The last time I had the car checked for codes was about 5 months ago. The mechanic mentioned the following popped up;
Engine Gas Regulator
Throttle Position Sensor
Air Mass Flow Sensor
The only reason I never had him fix these for he wanted to charge an arm and a leg to do this, said he would replace them with used parts and this would have totalled just over $700 CDN.
I found this quite high and never went back, I think I did the right thing LOL, hope I'm not wrong.
I'll LYK what the results were,
Thanks again!!

Well I'm back and have a small problem with the testing.....I took eack coil off and tested the resistence and I think I'm doing this wrong but they all read 0.1 OHM'*.
Undrneath each coil are two slots were they connect to the board, I placed each prong from the tester in the slots and it showed the reading.
Correct me if I'm wrong doing it this way, I think I'm doing this all wrong LOL
Thanks,
FatPat3
