Red face 98 sse coolant leak out of pressure fitting from block to heater core

98 sse coolant leak out of pressure fitting from block to heater core replaced the o ring twice but still blows coolant when it comes up to temp even used high temp silicon also with another o ring. can that whole housing be taken off so i can get rid of the stupid 90* elbows and re work the housing on my lathe and make it permanent , could use the help if anyone has gone through this before.

Have you replaced the elbows? Or just the O rings? Make sure you clean the area real good. There is also the possibility that the LIM is cracked there. Seen that before.

He'* not talking the coolant elbow. He'* talking about the firewall side where the 8mm bolt holds the fitting into the tensioner assembly and then the heater hose attaches.

You sure can take it off. Alternator attaches in the back with a couple bolts and then here on the front.

Since you will have it off, if I get you the sizing on the O-ring would you consider making a metal coolant elbow from the tensioner to LIM? Not sure about the expansion/contraction of the various metals, but I'd be willing to be a ginea pig in the interests of a better design that others may wish to purchase in the future.

i am talk ing about the elbows on the top i did replace the the orings and still the pressure side still sprays out. didnt know that there was a plastic elbow at the bottom , so if i can find out why the pressure is causing the o ring to fail i might fix it and leave it the way the stupid engineris made it if not then i will make 3 elbows out of alumininum or steel should be good i will talk to my dad he know more about welding and metals than i do.

Recently a friend broke her timing cover by forcing the tensioner assembly/alt bracket.

If the hoses got stressed somehow it'* possible that the leak is due to the tensioer being broken or cracked. If so..holler..think I have a few laying around that will work for you.

That'* one of those things that'* rather hard to see in the car. You might be able to feel a crack though. Look real close.

sorry it took me so long to get back to you all, car is running good replaced the thermostat and radiator cap. and all is well , thank you all for the help
