coolant leak...
Hello everybody,
I know it'* been a while but things happened beyond my control.
The problem..
95 SSE w/132.XXX
The engine leaks coolant from somewhere on the passenger side.
I've checked the water pump/weep hole...no wetness
I've checked the plastic coolant elbow...no leekes or wetness
I've checked the timing cover...no leek there either
Also the hoses and radiator are clean...no leeks
I do see however wetness behind the black upper intake; wiped it with clean white towel and it smells like burnt coolant...
The car does not leak all the time only when its wants too; I notice it when its parked for 8 hours or so. also does this on flat and incline parking lots.
My wife drives the car for 2 minutes to work, sits for 4 to 5 hours and 2 min back.
Thanks again for your timely help with this matter

Any signs of it being an internal leak? How'* your oil? :? That'* the first thing I think of with an L36.
You don't see any coolant anywhere besides near the upper intake?

On an unrelated point: Two minute trips are not long enough to get the engine up to operating temperature, about 180*F. It needs to get warm enough to burn of moisture in the oil and to prevent carbon build up in the lower intake manifold and combustion chambers. You also run the risk of forming sludge in the oil.

on topic...what is the date on the UIM? Has it been changed on that car before? Really would be sad if that engine got killed over that. And are you POSITIVE the oil is ok? because to the best of my knowlege you can't always tell with just the dipstick...but I could be wrong.
Good luck Todd!
