Does anyone know if its a possibility for me to take my car and add a supercharger to it. I have a 95 Bonneville Se. I wanted to get a mustang to work on but I thought it would be cool to have a fast bonneville too. Thanks in advance for any info.

Just about every new member asks this question. So I will answer it again. Don't worry YOU will not be the last person to ask this question.
First off, it'* ten times cheaper & easier to do a complete Engine/Transmission swap than to add a supercharger to a Naturally Aspirated engine. The present trans (4T60-E) will not handle the torque from the SC. The bottom end of the engine, heads, FI'*, etc... are all different (either located elsewhere or different design). The engine harness too has to be changed, as well as the ECM/PCM. Therefore it is even cheaper just to go out & buy a SSE or SSEi with a SC. The SC 3800 (L67) Series I or Series II & Trans (4T65-E or 4T65-E HD) are better suited & designed to handle the stress & torque. :? :(

zzperformance at Http://www.zzperformance.com now has out an add-on supercharger kit for those of us with the SE and SSE, non-supercharged motors. I however would recommend against it for the exact reasons DeathRat mentioned. First off, the price they are charging for this kit is rediculas ($3,300+). For that price you could buy the complete engine / transmission / wiring harness / PCM'*, Etc... from a wrecked GTP or SSEi, and youd be getting ALOT more. Second, I dont think there is any way our transmissions (the 4T60E) like DeathRat said, will hold up to that kind of power and torque. With a complete swap you'd not only be getting the revised version of the 4T60E, the 4T65E, but also the supercharged cars 97 and newer came with a heavy-duty version designed to handle even more torque, hence the 4T65E-HD.

I've looked into the swapping idea in my '95 SSE as well, but to be honest, after a lot of research, I just dont think it would be worth it.. '96 was the first year for FULL OBD II, which means even though a 97 and newer L67 (supercharged 3800) will most likely bolt right into the same mounts in our cars, EVERYTHING else must be changed over, including the complete wiring harness, and computer. Your definetely looking at removing your dashboard completely like I did this past summer in order to swap everything.

Dont let me discourage you, because with enough confidence and $$ you can do pretty much anything, but for myself anyways, I have come to the decision of just finding a newer Bonneville that is an SSEi with the L67 motor already in it from the factory, or, maybe if I could find a complete L67, tranny, wiring, PCM, etc... basically a complete front clip for damn cheap like $1500 or something, I would consider the swap.

3.8. There are a number of major differences between it and the supercharged
3.8, including injector placement (cylinder heads vs. intake manifold);
strengthened pistons, rods, and crankshaft, as well as provisions in the
engine management system to operate the engine correctly in boost.
We would like to have something to offer, but we don't see it as
economically practical, short of retrofitting a supercharged drivetrain and
computer into your vehicle.

Ok I have to defend the 4t60-e now LOL actually you can put 300hp and 400ftbls through the performance 4t60-e that I offer. That said it has yet to be built to handle 400or more hp. It will not be hard to upgrade the 4t60-e to handle the same stress as the 4t65-e. Most of the hard parts are the same or very similar. It also comes with a limited slip. The zz performance sc is an option. I agree it is not cheap, but it uses a much different SC so it is an option. Now all that said yes you can get a swap kit for a 4T65-e and ssei engine with computer for around $2000.00. Installing it is alot of money if you don’t plan to do it yourself.
