Default PCV replacement

I replaced the PCV valve on my 97 ssei today. I took off the little cover on top of the charger and took out the spring and pulled out the valve with a needle nose pliers came right out. My question is I keep reading about an Oring I didnt see any Oring just took it out put it back in. Did I miss something?

The oring was probably stuck down in the hole. Take another look. There should be one.

IIRC, the o-ring goes around the bottom end of the PCV valve and sits under the 'bulge' on the PCV. It could be down in there because it fell off the valve.

so I could just stick my finger in there or a little pick tool and get it out. From what I read if the valve isnt sealing I should get a strong vacuum from the oil fill, right.

Either that or a whistling noise right before the shift when you are on it hard.
