Hello, this is my first post here. I have a 1994 SE Bonnevile with 65,000 miles on it (series 1). Not too long ago, it started leaking coolant from the right side of the engine, onto the ground. We couldnt really spot where it was leaking from so we took it to the shop. They said the plenum gasket and lower intake gasket were bad on these engines and thats where the leak was coming from, they also said the water pump was on its way out. So yesterday my dad and I tackled the water pump, LIM gasket, UIM gasket, O-rings on the some hoses and throttle body gasket. Today we got it all put back together, it fired right up, we let it idle for a while trying to bleed the air out of the cooling system, almost instantly as the car was running, we could see coolant dripping from the engine onto the floor. We are unable to spot where it is leaking from! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

BTW: as we replaced these gaskets and such, there were no signs of leaking when it came to the gaskets, also no coolant in the oil or anything, we are kind of at a loss of what to do, could it be a head gasket or cracked head or something like that?

Check the hoses that go to the heater core. Might be dripping along those.

did you replace the gasket between the LIM and the block? not sure where you might be seeing the leak from

We did check those heater core hoses, not even a sign of dripping coolant. Yes we changed the gasket between the LIM and the block, all i was saying is there was nothing that looked like it would have been leaking. Is there anything on the back of the engine that would be pouring coolant out, maybe like transmission cooling lines or anything like that?

well when you pull the LIM off coolant and oil can mix, coolant in the oil can cause you to spin a bearing, but the cooler lines are around the front I think

The trans lines wont leak coolant, those run trans oil in to the radiator, not coolant in to the trans. Not really up on the series 1 engines, but is there a coolant elbow that gows from the LIM to the water pump?

Well there was a formed hose that runs from the manifold to the water pump, we replaced it with a new hose and new hose clamps. What are signs of a more significant issue such as head gasket or cracked head? It just amazes me how much coolant will drip and its like impossible to find the spot it dripping from.

Blown head gaskets are something we just don't see here. I guess it'* possible but I've not seen any on these engines. Look over the water pump real close, its the most likely cause.

Alrighty well thanks for the advice so far, I'll run it again tomorrow and look over everything again and report my findings

Well we ran it some more and checked over it again, we now visibly saw a location it was leaking. It'* coming from the hose that runs from the intake to heater core the metal hose that goes into the heater core uses an o-ring to aid in sealing the connection. We had replaced the o-ring but it wasnt a factory replacement we kinda just sized it up the best we could using an oring from the plumbing section at the hardware store. So today we went the dealer and got the correct oring, this one is coated with teflon. Anyone know why? Should we put a little RTV on the oring also to help form a perfect seal?
