Hi all hope you are doing ok. I have a big major problem with my bonneville ,i own a 92 Pontiac Bonneville Se with the console shift. I am having issues starting the car i had replace the ignition switch with a newer one cause i thaw that was causing my problem.Here is the problem when i turn the key on and move it to start possition the engine crank and sometimes the engine start running and i can use the car and everithing is well for now buth sudenly the car shuts off and wont start again it cranks buth nothing happends i had check the fuel pressure its ok whe the engine is on and when its off, when i buy the car i notice they change spark plugs wires, ignition coils and maybe spark plugs i havent check them, heres a nother thing i notice about when i turn the engine on and its running fine i notice the service engine soon light is on and when the engine shuts off the service engine light goes off and when i tried to start the engine on the service engine light has to be on so i can start the engine again. I was thinking a few days ago to check the computer that is in the passenger floor under neath its like a box with tree connectors that i think is the ECM i just start making some testing disconecting the plugs and starting the engine , i have manage to turn the engine a few times buth because it dont have the tree connectors plug in i doesnt stay on to much, the fuel pump is ok it sounds when u turn the key, I had make a further test i disarm the computer and i have found a chip inside of it that unplugs and it can be take away, i just notice something new when i disconnect that chip the engine light turn on and mi radiator fans start to funtion as they supose to work buth when i try to star the engine it cranks buth it does not start because the chip is not connect ,i notice that the problem is on that computer because when i plug the chip back the engine light goes off buth whe i start playing with the chip around pressing it makes contact,the engine light comes on and i can star the engine on if i play with it is there anythign any advise tha could help me out if i have to buy a new computer cause i know the problem mith be there thanks in advance and excuse mi writing i know english buth i am from Puerto Rico i dont have to much practice thanks :lol

and another thing when they tried to put the OBD scanner the computer doesn't comunicate with the OBD scanner they put like 5 each diferents scanner on the car to retrive Codes For problems and nthing thanks in advance again

sounds like you need to get your key programmed to the ECM. does a security light come on when it shuts off? you might want to try there.

nope the light stays off its in the computer the chip inside the computer underneath the passengers floor i kind of play with tha chip push it a little and it makes like some conttac and the service engine soon ligh comes on and then i can turn the engine on

Sorry for that any help plz i am driving crazy with this car ,i am starting to loose faith in this bonneville gosh thats shame cause i was starting to like this car so much for all the features the confort .... :(

I'm not familiar witht he 92 series but it looks like you've found the problem. Have you tried cleaning that?

Plz can any one give me any advice if i buy the ECM it is supose to have that chip inside of it new plz any help regarding mi problem post on the begining :( or if any one had this experience or same problem thanks

im pretty sure there is a separate module that reads that key'* resistance. so, the ecm will not fix the prob.

is not the chip on the key its a chip in the ECM that i was talkiing i play with it pushing it a little and then i can start mi car buth i dont know if the ECM is damage or the chip inside of it damage ,because when u push that chip i can hold it and start mi car if stop pushing it mi car shuts off. The key is fine the other module reads the resistance fine and the security ligh shuts off
