Having a bit of an odd occurance with my gas pedal.

When I start the car after leaving it sitting for awhile, it starts fine, everything is normal, except the gas pedal is "stuck" at the top of it'* travel. Pushing it down with a bit more force than normal will break it loose, and afterwards it'* fine. I'm thinking there'* somewhere I need to lubricate...this has only started in the last couple of days...coniceded with the summer heat finally arriving here.

Any ideas where I should look?

Your throttle body needs to be cleaned. The butterfly valve within the throttle body is sticking.

To do the job you'll need a throttle body gasket and some coolant. You'll need to drain about a gallon off coolant out of the system. Then simply unbolt the throttle body from the upper intake manifold (or supercharger if it'* supercharged), and remove all the sensors. Then, clean the throttle body very well. I like to take my entire TB and dip it in a coffee can of gasoline and lightly scrub it with a nylon brush.

Then, reinstall and refill the coolant. Also, put some lubricant on the throttle body cables to ensure smooth operation!

mine does that sometimes, ive recently put a good amoutn of money into the car and am a little short, any adverse effects form leaving it go for awhile?

No, not really. It'* just a nusance. Mine did it for a good 15,000 miles before I fixed it.

For a quick fix take out your MAF sensor, take off the intake tubing, and spray cleaner in there and use a brush. Holding the throttle linkage down will help...

And if you want a super quick fix. Use two cans of TB cleaner and skip the brush.

If you're going to spray intake cleaner into the throttle body, it'd be a good idea to stuff a rag in the throat first.

I recently tried to save time by re-cleaning the throttle body without removing it, and although I was able to clean it ok, the engine was difficult to restart after that, and when it did eventually start, it ran terribly and would stall unless I gave it quite a bit of throttle for several minutes until the injector cleaner was burned and the fuel mixture returned to normal.

Another option would be to hold the butterfly valve open to let the injector cleaner evaporate, but I don't know how long that would take.

Let me elaborate on my two can method.

You need to pull the MAF screen out.
Spray front of TB liberally allowing excess to run onto floor
Hold butterfly open and spray.
Wipe area where butterfly sits at rest with fingers to loosen and remove ridge that'* causing stickiness
Spray, spray spray. (a little wasteful..but I couldn't get a tb gasket local for a couple days)
When you got to start it. Hold the pedal to the floor. This turns off the injectors, same as a flooded start. You flooded out a bit with the TB cleaner. It'll start a little rough. Slight revs a couple of times til the exhaust clears up and you are back in action.
