I havent the slightest clue, but my bonneville makes a poping sound coming from the rear when I hit bumps. It started when the rear air ride was replaced by regular struts to get it to pass inspection, since my grandparents were giving me the car they didn't want to pay $700 to get the air ride fixed. I'd appreciate if anyone could give info on this too!

Use a spring compressor.
Mark the bolts at both ends of the strut.
Disconnect the swaybar endlink on that side.

the spring is not attached to the strut they are in two different loctions. I was going to 1st renover the pass side intrior of the trunk so I can get to the bolts. Then jack the car up put my jack stands in. Then put blocks behhind all wheels then take the tire off. Put the jack underneath the control arm compress the to the max height. well actualy first use dis connect the rear track bar then. THen then take off the top bolts lower the control arm then remove the lower bolts connecting it two the wheel. My question is that spring connected in place or is just stays in place by the strut not letting in go any farther down?

Good to hear.

Using a spring compressor removes the risk on the spring coming to meet you.
