Hmmm... IIRC, the compressor won't turn on in cold weather if you have A/C selected... maybe I'm wrong. Did you try the defroster? I think the compressor kicks on for defrost.

i tested to see if mine would turn on went it was 37* out a couple mornings ago and it didn't turn on, so there must be a temp sensor for it to turn on at only a certain temp only.

The 2000+ IAT temp has to be above 41* F before the A/C will work. Other years are similar, but I'm not sure at what temp it will start working with those.

cvc, are you sure you heard hissing coming from "the round cylinder"? That is your A/C Accumulator and should be a completely sealed unit. Hissing there would indicate that you have a "freon" leak and that'* not good. Verify if there really is a leak there and if so, get that assembly replaced before you have real issues.

yup the Park Ave hisses there and the Bonnie hisses by the comperssor, both units look different The Bonnie doesnt have the extra line at the cylinder that the Park does. but hiss the same amt when shut off and both work fine and cool fine so if there was a leak im sure it would be wet there or do it all the time ??

Well, an indication of a leak would be dark areas where the PAG oil leaks out with coolant.
