A/c compressor not kicking on is it too cold out?

A/c compressor not kicking on is it too cold out?
Ok this guys Park Ave the a/c was working eairler now it doesn't the temp says 42 deg on the dash, is this too cold ?

oh, also when it was working today and after I shut off the car I could hear a hissing comming from the round cylinder near the shck tower, whats this about ?

Hmmm... IIRC, the compressor won't turn on in cold weather if you have A/C selected... maybe I'm wrong. Did you try the defroster? I think the compressor kicks on for defrost.

i tested to see if mine would turn on went it was 37* out a couple mornings ago and it didn't turn on, so there must be a temp sensor for it to turn on at only a certain temp only.

The 2000+ IAT temp has to be above 41* F before the A/C will work. Other years are similar, but I'm not sure at what temp it will start working with those.

yup the Park Ave hisses there and the Bonnie hisses by the comperssor, both units look different The Bonnie doesnt have the extra line at the cylinder that the Park does. but hiss the same amt when shut off and both work fine and cool fine so if there was a leak im sure it would be wet there or do it all the time ??
