Some Problems with my 92 SSEI
Hi there!
Maybe someone can help me with some of the problems my bonnie has.
First of all, I get Code41 (nothing else, nothing in history).
That'* the magnet, will be done in a couple of days.
Second, my belt tensioner was broken, so the belt was more or less loose, so it was slipping for around 1500-2500mls (already @ pre-owner, i have the car for a week now, new tensioner, put some spray on the belt, no slipping noises anymore, but i'll change the belt asap )
And last but not least , problem #3.
When I go full throttle, sometimes the whining of the supercharger is "smooth", sometimes it sounds like it'* been interrupted. and just before upshifting (in normal+performance shift modes) it'* like you turn the ignition off.
could this be a revlimiter caused by the missing cam magnet - error code ; and/or the belt which is slipping, and i don't regognize it?
or has this something to do with my transmission? (i read something about tcc slippage, but it should throw a code as i understood!??)
or could this be the fuel filter? (don't know if or when it was changed, if the filter has even been changed)
trans fluid level is ok, looks like it should look, engine oil perfect, car drives and shifts good/perfect from no throttle to about 2/3 throttle.
if needed, i could make a video, but perhaps my description is good enough for you who are more experienced than me.
thanks in advance
sorry if my english is funny to read
alex

Ok!
Finally, I solved Code 41. First my garage put the magnet in the wrong direction.... I told them what to do exactly.... but they didn't want to hear
Now, the magnet'* in, Code41 dissappeared, no SES at all..... but just for a very short time.
After ~15-30minutes of driving ; I get a Code18 "Cam/Crank Sensor Error".
Not everytime I drive, and when the SES goes on again, I have been driving for 10-15mls or even more.
I didn't get the Code18 when the magnet was missing.
Any suggestions?

thanks for your fast reply!
i don't think that my sensor is adjustable, it'* exactly this part:
How much should the magnet come out of the sprocket?
Could check this tomorrow.
But if the magnet is misaligned, shouldn't the the SES / Error Code occur right after the engine started?
regards,
Alex

YouTube - Bonneville SSEI - Bad Ignition Coils?
and another one, this time from a cold start, in ~min 3:30 it seems that i reach a rev limiter, maybe fuel cutoff...
as you can see, while driving there is no error code present... (it would have come if i'd been drivin 10-15minutes longer).

I just kind of skimmed over this thread and watched the vids. I woudl test the throttle position sensor. It was hard to hear the video, wife wont stop talking. But it seems the engine isn't increasing RPMs correctly. And this can be caused by conflicting readings between the TPS, and MAF Another possibility is the MAP. Test this stuff, don't just throw new parts at it. Most of the time the codes shown do not reflect the actual problem.

hmm i'll give it a try....
seems that the tps&map sensors are the same parts as those for the 92' firebird v6.
if the tps is adjustable, the one from my 88' trans am could fit, if necessary.
i'll look in my service manual, think i'll find the correct voltage of the tps.
stay tuned
thanks,
Alex

I think I've found something.
Maybe it'* the boost control actuator or the solenoid which is causing the problems....
When my engine idles, it should read 0psi at the boost gauge, right?
In fact, it shows -9 ; -10 psi. While driving the boost pressure drops from max 10 to ~0 without giving more or less throttle.
A friend told me how to check if it'* the bca or bcs which unit is failing , but if I find out, where can I get those parts?
Didn't find anything at Summitracing, Rockauto, Napa.
Maybe I could go to a Mercedes Benz parts dealer? They use the M62 */C, too, I think.
