I was just checking my car and noticed there there waqs no coolant in the reservoir....I have not checked it in a while though...I was having no temperature problems..and the radiator is full...I did smell coolant yestersday..the smell was comming through the vents...I checked my oil...it'* not milky or white....what gives...I just re-filled it..I will try and keep an eye on it ..

Exactly.. :( I just checked it out thoroughly and it'* leaking past the firewall but down on the frame part...whew!

Yes, the heater core has to come out. Heater cores are fairly inexpensive. I have never taken out a heater core out of a SSEi but if it is designed like the majority of cars - is it a pain in the butt. I'm sure someone on this site has replaced one and can advise you on the step by step procedure. May sure that you test the new heater core before it is put back in place - as I have completed this task and put in a bad brand new heater core. At least the second time around, you have mastered the art of replacing the heater core. As with most SSEi, the air conditoner 'core' is to be double checked, as it may come out located within the same assembly.

I'll double check it because after I posted..I realized that the water was clear and that'* what i put in my collant reservoir,,because that'* all I had at the time...but in my radiator there was green coolant and it was full...when i started it and saw it leaking..my jug was half empty......it is dripping behind the firewall though..so the ac doesn't leak back that far does it :? ? I was thinking it was dripping too fast to be that..but....maybe not..I'll check closer in the morning. if it is ac water then I would be looking to buy a new intake.

How would I know if it was my intake...there is no steam that i can see when the engine is hot. and I could not see any leaks. i thought i had by-passed this problem because of the series i NA engine that i have.

One thing I found out, moving to a cold climate, when your coolant gets low, it stops going into the heatrer core. I would assume this is to protect the engine. You'd probably still get the coolant smell, as I doubt there is like a switch or something to stop the coolant, just at a certain level, all you get to the core is fumes.

You haev to drop the dash and the engine side stuff too for the heater core, i showed someone the pages for it so they could do it.
