Do lend me your expertise. What started as a Low RPM stutter under load has progressed to a rough Idle / labored acceleration problem with my '95 SSEi

When driving, I sense crisp throttle response, but the engines seems like its being starved for gas and/or feels like the my 3 year old high flow cat is plugged. The engine hesitates, stumbles and has very little power.

I shot a video of my engine. Hopefully you can discern the electrical popping noise in the audio (especially at the end).

I've already replaced the following:
TPS sensor
EGR Valve
Vacuum hose connectors

I've tested the Coil packs as per Techinfo instructions
- cleaned K&N air Filter
- checked all fluids
- used injector cleaner in gas tank
- cleaned TB and carefully cleaned MAF
- Examined my 2 year old Bosch Platinum 100k mile plugs and premium wires - Not fouled and still gaped correctly (I examined just one from the front)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do the wires at the same time. The majority here prefer Belden Premium'* from NAPA. The Series 2 set fits fine.

Willwren, you were exactly right about the plugs and wires being bad. In fact, when I went to pull the #6 wire, it was almost severed just above the connector and had been arching (thus explaining the popping sound).

The wires were only 2.5 years old and were 8mm Autolite premiums. I took your reccomedatoin on new Napa Wires and Copper Plugs

I'm a first time poster, but a long time reader. I appreciate all who contribute their knowledge here. Sometimes it'* a bit challenging using the forum search function, but I'm getting better at it.

Is there a diagnostic flowchart somewere in the archives, by chance?

Well just a general trouble shooting flow chart or guide might help someone like myself, who knows just enough to be dangerous.

a factory service manual, or the Search button at the top left of every page here would do you much help

The Autolite Professionals are also a very good wire. It'* a shame that we didn't mention other options to you for wires.

While the Napa'* are good...they are not the only good choice out there. If I remember properly, the Autolite Pro'* are a lifetime wire and we could have had you get a fresh set for free instead of the cost of the new Napa ones.

I just happen to have Autolite Pro'* on mine, by chance. I put them on years ago to attempt to get a better wire than I had before then. They are still good today.

Also, regarding your request for a diagnostic flow chart. Probably the best that we could provide, given enough time to put them together, would be to provide a short series of diagnostic charts for the most common issues we've noted here. Bear in mind that the current '96-99 Factory Service Manual is a two-volume series that measures about 3-1/2" thick when put together. In that manual are many many different flow charts.

That is why we regularly suggest the purchase of a set of FSMs to those that will be doing more than minor and ocassional repairs to their car. The $30-$75 you pay for a used FSM set on ebay will usually more than come back to you after one major repair or a couple minor ones.
