Default tranny in a can?

My tranny has been slipping and grinding for almost 5k now, my buddy said they carry a can of stuff at ricerzone that could help alot, anyone out there added anything to the tranny fluid, and did it help at all?

Im gonna be selling the car, so i need to get the best fix possible. Thanks, Blake

-just for fun, you may want to go look at my experience (Harry Sisson) on the www.lucasoil.com website, under testimonials, I think about page two. Anyway, just look for my name there.

-and generally, I'm not much of a believer in any of the "miracles in a can."

-but let us know what you think of my personal experience with it.

I had a dodge caravan a few years ago that was slipping badly and I too was going to dump' the thing. A buddy told me about some tranny gunk' and I tried it. After 100 miles no more slipping and it was like a new tranmission. Traded it off within the week, not something I would want to do as a repair but it did make the tranny seem better?

Change the fluid first and replace it with something high quality like Castrol. Sometimes this can do wonders. Changing tranny fluid is something that everyone overlooks. I was able to get 6 quarts out of mine.

I'm now a very satisfied customer. It eliminated 99% of the slippage, and it now runs almost like new. Just posting here right before i go and write my own testimonial. That stuff really works.

StangSlayer, I assume you are speaking of the Lucas additive.

As I have stated before, and will once again: Generally I am not a believer in, or supporter of 99.9% of all the "automotive snake oil" products out there on the market. I guess my basic believe is that all the good name brand products (fluids in particular) already have the correct and balanced additive package when you buy them. In fact, I have to wonder if using some of those "snake oils" may actually upset the chemical balance of the original package, and could do more harm than good, or essentially be of no real benefit at all.

On the other hand, I have no doubt that some additive products actually will do what they are designed to do, when correctly used, and under the correct set of conditions.

And even though I still find it hard for me to believe personally, every Lucas procuct that I have used to date has performed perfectly. - -In fact, the tranny in my Son'* Olds 88 is still working perfectly -and the power steering on my '90 Chevy truck. -and etc etc.

Glad to hear that it worked for you. The pessimistic side of me still says, that it only gives us a little more "borrowed" time, before the total overhaul is needed. But who knows? In some cases, I suppose it could be long term fix.
