Brake warning light/chime
Hello to all. We have a 1996 SE. Yesterday the BRAKE light came on with the chime. I have searched this site and read related posts but I stil have questions.
The parking brake is OFF
There is not a leaking master cylinder
The reservoir is full sooooo. What are the culprits? Brake booster? Parking brake switch?
We have brakes with no differnt pedal feel.Wife must drive to buy a college book tomorrow. Is it safe Thanks in advance for any help/advice

It is tough to say exactly.
If the pedal hasn't felt funny at all, the fluid is topped off and the pedal is all the way up, it sounds like it'* ok. However approach it as you have. Caution is best.
Keep an eye on the fluid, be wary of anything with the pedal. Other than that I'd start looking at the wires to the various switches. Brake fluid level, e brake, etc. Check to see if you have water leaks that may have corroded some of the wires/grounds under the carpet.
As well keep an eye on this thread, other vets will chime in soon.

sometimes the food parking brake pedal lose some tention enough to trigger the light.. try pullin up the pedal to see if there'* any play and if it goes away.. if thats not it.. then might be something else worse.. yes.. I always go for the easy check first before the harder ones.. cause I"m just that lazy.. ask boost gear
It happened to TAmara'* car.. we held it up with rubber band lmao.. it worked till one winter nite had to work on car.. applied Ebrake.. and SNAP.. the E-brake line broke.. changed it.. it'* all good now

My brake light comes on under medium to hard acceleration, especially while headed uphill or during left turns. I've played and played with the emergency brake sensor and cannot figure it out either.

I'd say this is either a bad Master cylinder, of possibly a bad level sensor.... If the level is low or there is low line pressure you can get a brake signal...
If the res is not full, fill it up a bit and see if that takes care of the problem...
I noticed you said you have no leaks, Usually if the master cylinder failr( doesn't happen thios way all of the time ) it will leak a bit where the master cylinder and booster meet up...
You may want to have the rear braked checked as well as the rear wheel cylinders are proned to leaking...

OK I've checked both rear wheel cylinders and found them to be corroded but sound.
I attempted to check the brake fluid level sensor on the master cylinder but could not get power to it tho I am a real f***up when it comes to electrical.I turned the key to on and disconnected the sensor wires at the MC and tried to get a voltage reading from them and no way no how could I get anything. This could obviously be my problem but again it may not be because of my methods of checking it.Have ordered a Parking brake warning switch( about 5.00 US).Will keep at it and thanks for all the suggestions. All are welcome.
