BRAKE QUESTION
When the car first starts up, and you pull out of the driveway and star to slow down, the anti lock kicks in and kicks your foot back but still works. It only does it when the car first comes on.
Also, a few times i've started the car and the ABS light stays on (very rare), along with the Service Engine Soon light(also very rare), and a few times the Traction light wouldn't go off even when i pressed the traction button. Can't wait until Inflatable Restraint stays on too! Woohoo!! Spending money on mindless repairs is so relieveing!!! :P

How long has it been since you last replaced your brakes? Cause both my brake light & SES light would stay on for a couple of min. until I got my brakes changed.

The ABS does a brief system self-test the first time you exceed 14 mph after turning the key on. Could that be what'* happening?
If not, follow the previous advice about checking the basic brake system. If that'* all OK you may very well have a hub speed sensor failing.

What'* the year and trim line of your car?
Try not to hit the brakes when you first turn the car on and hit 14 mph, when it is going through its self test, otherwise you'll get that elevated pedal feel.
You can't turn off the traction control unless you are stopped.

Dan, Fuddy'* first question is critical. Please put your year and model in your signature. The ABS/Traction systems changed several times through the 90'*. Almost every 2 years.
