Default Brake Light + Dinging

Yesterday the brake light came on on the Systems Monitor, on the rear of the car, I don't know if this means the problem is in the back specifically. At first, I thought it was a problem with the ABS because they have felt funny this winter, but the "Anti-Lock" Light isn't coming on as well. Also, when the break like is on, it dings constantly, which makes me think it'* a major problem. The breaks are not behaving any differently, and still work fine and the MC is still full to the same spot it was before the light came on. I really can't drive the car until this is resolved obviously, but I'm not sure what the problem is since the fliud level is fine and the abs light isn't on.

What trim is your car?

If it is what I am thinking it is, your brakes are fine. It'* one of the brake lamps that have gone bad. But...that would only be if you have an SSE or an SSEi. And from your description, I think it is

I suspect that as well, but let'* not take chances. Dinging can also mean a failing master cylinder. Is the BRAKE light on? The actual red dummy light?

Or just the lamp monitor warning on the DIC?

Just checked the lights. They all appear to be working properly. Also inspected the MC as the brakes were pumped and that looked fine too... It is the actually Brake light with the (!) after the word on the "Systems Monitor" on the dash, the picture of the little car.

Ok, that helps us a little bit.

Now check your parking brake. Sometimes the switch on them get stuck.

HAHAHaaaha. Yea, so I let my brother use the car, and this problem started when I went to drive it the next time after he did. I feel really dumb but it was just the parking brake was on, he musta did it when parking the car. I drove it for about 4 miles, 2 miles at a time sepperated by about 8 hours, with the parking brake on. I didn't even think of that and the car didn't drive all that different with it on. But I guess problem solved. I feel really dumb hah.
