Default 1993 SSEi SC Gauge readings, Traction Control, Perf question

Hi there, Yes I'm a newbie.
Just picked up my SSEi yesterday. Here'* a few problems:
When you step on the gas, the car hestiates, chugs, and the SC needle jumps around. Back off the gas and it smoothes out. When crusing around town, it'* fine. When you step on it, it shudders.
My first change will be plugs, wires, EGR valve. Why does the SC needle jump around when this happens.

Also, I can't change from Traction Control to normal ride. I push the normal ride button, and nothing happens. Tried in park, and in gear. Am I doing something wrong? No owners manual, so not sure.

Thanks, in advance.
Adam

welcome to the club. I had the exact same problem when i first got my car, turned out to be wires, i never have gotten the traction control problem fixed on mine yet, but you might try checking the wheel speed sensors.

Hang on PeterG.. They are trying to change from TC to normal ride?

Press the Traction Control button and it should light up on your dash as being off.

Welcome to the club Adam. I wouldn't change the EGR unless the computer says it'* bad...but I would do the new wires, plugs, and check the ignition coils as they *may* have a bit of corrosion under them where they mate up to the ignition control module (ICM).

As for your traction control, what you are stating is that you are pushing the "ride normal" button...this does nothing for traction control, but rather your computerised suspension system. (Normal and Sport are the settings for it I think). If you have this setup AND both your buttons are lit up, your system has a fault and will default to whichever state the suspension was in at the time of failure. And from what I have heard about this system, it failing is really nothing to be concerned with.

Traction control, on the other hand....if that lamp on the dash is lit when you put it in gear, and doesn't go out, there is a fault somewhere. I am also battling that in my car as well.

I take it you're a Rush fan?? (La Villa Strangiato)

And, just to make sure you get full attention, i'd re-ask your question in the 92-99 section.

Welcome!!!

CCR strut (normal and performance RIDE) troubleshooting is in Techinfo.
Coil pack troubleshooting is also.

Link at the top of the page. I agree. Don't mess with the EGR until you throw a code for it.

Adam, Billboost just corrected me, and pointed out you have a 93. You don't have CCR.

Can you put 93 SSEi in your signature and give us a better description of the problem?
