I have an intersting dilema. I've got a K&N cone on my '96 LeSabre, one of the ones with the hole for the IAT. Well, the hole is too small, so I enlarged it enough to get my IAT in, but... not large enough to ever get it out in one piece, I don't think. Hindsight being 20-20, I probably should have made it just a little bigger. Next time, perhaps.

Of course, time has passed, and it'* about time to wash and re-oil the filter. Am I going to destroy my IAT, or will it be good to go once evaporation and time do their thing?

I think I'll be okay, since it'* just a thermistor, right? I just need some confirmation before I disable the family car.

I know i've cleaned mine, this is certainly not advice, but I've cleaned mine and it still works fine. I doubt anything will happen. I'm sure with air rushing past it, it would dry in a quick hurry as it is. But why would it get wet anyways if you're removing the cone to clean and reoil? Where does the IAT come in here?

The IAT is stuck in the hole in the rubber base of the cone filter. It'* one of those not-quite-round ones, with the hole for the IAT.

So the IAT is stuck in the filter, which will have to get wet, in order to get clean, in order to be re-oiled, so that I can continue to drive with confidence in my filter'* ability to clean incoming air.

Personally..I say wash it. if it acts up..a new one is a $5 or less JY trip away.

Sounds like good logic to me. I'll try to get 'r done this weekend.
